Supernatural is a show about two brothers who travel the country hunting things. They don't hunt normal things, they hunt monsters. The series starts with the death of their mother Mary Winchester and their father's obsession with finding what killed her.
Sam has left the family business and has been studying law at Stanford. One night Dean shows up and says the words that starts it all.
"Dad's on a hunting trip. He hasn't been home in a few days." This sends the brothers on a long search around the country for their father John. Along the way the face all kinds of creepy things, ghosts, wendigos(Very Creepy!)
Bloody Mary, shapeshifters, etc. and that's just the first few episodes.
