Season 6

Season 6

For the past year Dean has been living with Lisa and Ben.  While Sam has been hunting with their grandfather, soulless.  Sam lets Dean think that he's been trapped in the Cage with Lucifer and Michael, his soul still is but his body has been free all year.  Soulless Sam is kind of funny, he has almost no emotions and Dean sort of has to keep him in check.  This season they face, UFO's, fairies, shape shifting babies, and dragons.  Dean spends some time as a vampire, they travel back in time to 1861 to hunt down a phoenix, and to an alternate universe and my favorite episode.

In the French Mistake with the help of Balthazar, Sam and Dean end up in our world.  Jared and Jensen end up playing Sam and Dean, who are pretending to be Jared and Jensen, pretending to act as Sam and Dean.

Evaluation of Supernatural

Evaluation of Supernatural
From Angels to Demons, from golems to phoenix, from skin walkers to unicorns, the many creatures that appear in the Supernatural show have all got their origins deep in human legends.  None of the creatures were made up for the show.  This show is supposed to be scary like Grimm or American Horror Story, but unlike those shows Supernatural doesn't go overboard. They all appear somewhere in human history, in myths and legends.  The subtlety they use on the monsters and with the way the episodes are written, they are all made to be plausible.  This really ups the scary factor of the show.
Throughout the series Sam and Dean come across all kinds of creepy creatures.  The creators of the show do their homework, they research every monster and everything the monsters do in the show goes along with all the myths about the creature.   Since all of these creatures appear in the real world somewhere it makes the show scarier.  Unlike shows with aliens in it or something that’s completely made up these monsters are more believable. When a monster is subtle and believable it makes so much scarier because it seems like it could happen to you.
In episode two the Winchesters face a Wendigo, one of the scariest creatures they face.  Wendigos come from tribes in northern America and Canada.  The wendigo was once a human that had to resort to cannibalism for survival.  Azazel, Lillith, Abbadon, all appear in either Christian or Jewish folklore.  Azazel was a fallen angel or a demon like he is in the show.  Ghouls and Djinn appear in the ancient Middle East.  Ghouls feed off of humans and take the form of the last human they eat.  Kitsune, shojo, okami and buruburu are all creatures from Japanese myth.   The Leviathan in most cultures were giant sea monsters, however the show used the Christian version which are also known as Hell mouths.
Many of the Angels that appear in the show are based on Angels in the Old and New Testaments.  Castiel is based on the Angel Cassiel; Cassiel follows orders and does not interfere with humans unless ordered to.  He is an observer; Castiel was the same way in the beginning.  He always followed orders even if they were to destroy a whole town, until Dean stopped him.  It is later revealed that Cas’s true orders were to follow Dean’s commands. The Archangel Raphael is a healing angel, in the show he want s the apocalypse to happen so that Paradise can be brought to Earth and the humans can come back and be healed of the original sin.  Metatron is believed to be Enoch, who wrote the Book of Enoch, and in the show Metatron is the scribe that wrote God’s word.  The Angels are either real angels in the old and new Testaments, or are based off of them.  This furthers the feel that things in the show seem very real.
The brothers also face some Gods.  In the episode Hammer of the Gods, Gods from several cultures.  From Hindu is Ganesh, patrons of the arts and sciences, and Kali goddess of death.  From Norse mythology Baldur, son of Odin, leads the group of pagan gods.  Loki is the trickster, in the show we don’t ever meet the real Loki but instead there is someone impersonating him.  Odin is the king of the Norse gods.  Still in this same episode is the Roman god Mercury who is the messenger of the Gods.  The Egyptian goddess Isis is also in this episode she is the goddess of magic and motherhood.  Baron Samedi is the Loa of the dead in Haitian voodoo.  More Gods appear in other episodes throughout the series.  The Greeks Zeus, Artemis and Prometheus show up fighting each other. Osiris, Zao Shen, Vesta, Veritas, Leshi and more Gods all run into the Winchesters at some point. They myths surrounding each of the Gods are accurate in the show.  They might not say it outright but the way that they are portrayed makes it obvious who it is without having to say it.  Most of the Gods don’t survive their encounter.
The Winchesters also face off against the four horseman of the Apocalypse.  They deal with War, Famine, Pestilence and Death.  The Horsemen bring about the divine apocalypse in the Christian religion.  War creates illusions that turn people to violence. Famine makes people hunger for everything, and when they die from extreme overindulgence he eats their souls.  Pestilence creates different diseases, sometimes combining different viruses.  The Winchesters are able to defeat these three horsemen.  Death however made a deal with Dean because there is no way to defeat him. Death does not really want the Apocalypse to happen, he is being controlled by Lucifer, and so he helps out a little.  Death will help out the Winchesters again. Most people are aware of the story of the four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, which helps solidify the idea that the things in the show could happen.

All of the creatures in this show appear somewhere in myths and legends.  The creators of the Supernatural show spent hours researching these creatures so that everything would be accurate.  Much of the mythology in the show including how to defeat them is all correct, at least according to the legends.   The show is subtle about most of the things that happen.  It’s not like in Doctor Who where the whole world sees spaceships, most of the cases that happen are in small towns or small cities.  Twice the brothers have fought something in Rhode Island which sort of brings the supernatural home. The normal humans in the show usually come up with a more natural reasoning behind the things in the show.  The fact that there could be both natural and Supernatural things behind many of the cases makes the viewer think.  Was it really just a completely random animal attack, or could there be werewolf in town?

season 5 part 2

Season 5 Part 2
Crowley becomes a big part of the series.  showing up in every season after 5.  He goes from helping the Winchesters one minute then trying to kill them the next.  Also because of Sam's size Crowley always calls him Moose.
The Trickster shows up a few more times this season.  In one episode he traps Sam and Dean in TV land, where they get stuck in different shows.

In the last episode it's the final showdown with Lucifer.  Chuck narrates the beginning of the episode in which he talks about Baby's life.  Baby is the 1967 Chevy Impala that the boys were raised in.  Towards the end of the fight Cas shows up and makes up his own curse.  The season ends with Lucifer in Sam's body and Michael in Adam's.  Sam is able to take control just long enough to jump into the Cage dragging Michael with him.

Season 5

Season 5  Part 1
In this season the boys have to stop Lucifer.  Sam freed him in the last season.  Sam is Lucifer's one true vessel and Dean is Micheal's.  It's their destiny to let the Angels use them as 'meat-suits' as Dean puts it, to fight each other.  Since they are Angels they have to get the brothers to say yes before they can be possessed.  Since they can't kill him which they tried with a Colt that was supposed to be able to kill anything.  The Colt went missing a while back, and it was a demon named Crowley that returned it to the boys.  He wants Lucifer dead as much as they do.  Cas goes off trying to find God who had disappeared a long time ago, or so it seems.  Chuck the prophet shows up again too trying to use his powers to help Sam and Dean.
Dean does some time traveling.  He ends up in the year 2014.  In which he finds himslef leading the survivors against a Lucifer possessed Sam. The Croatoan virus is everywhere, it basically turns people into zombies. Cas is human and generally dunk or stoned all of the time.

Season 4

Season 4  When we left off Dean was trapped 'Downstairs'.  This season starts off with Dean being "raised from perdition." There are several new characters this season including my favorite Castiel.  Castiel (Cas) is an angel of the lord.  turns out that most angels want the apocalypse to happen and Lucifer is freed when Sam breaks the final seal.  Eventually Cas joins the Winchesters side and fights against his brothers.  Another knew character is Pamela, while trying to figure out just who or what was able to rescue Dean from Hell, Bobby and the boys go to this physic for help.  Castiel trys to warn her not to look at his true form but she doesn't listen and ends up with her eyes burned out.  There are some angels who are trying their best to make the Apocalypse happen, Uriel, Raphael, Micheal, Zachariah.  Just so you know most angels are jerks.  especially those 4 higher ups.  We also meet Chuck the Prophet.  He writes books about everything that has ever happened in Sam and Dean's lives.  Chuck is pretty cool.  There are also a couple of funnier episodes, Monster movie and Yellow Fever.  Season 3 gag reel and eye of the tiger video below.

Season 3

Season 3  this season has some funny episodes in it. We also see a lot of Ruby, a demon who seems to be on the Winchesters side.  Bela is a new character that is a thief that deals in very  rare objects and she gives the Winchesters some big headaches.  Then there's Lillith, a big time baddie who likes to feed on children.  Lillith is working to break the 66 seals on Lucifer's cage.  She wants the Apocalypse to happen.  She is also the one holding Dean's contract.  In this season there is a Christmas special, an episode where Sam has some really bad luck and one where its Tuesday everyday.(Guess who's back!)  Season 2 Gag reel at the bottom.

Season 2

SEASON 2  Sam and Dean spend most of the season hunting down Azael, the yellow eyed demon that killed both of there parents.  Bobby their adopted father helps out a lot.  Bobby will be showing up whenever the boys need help throughout the series.  Following the journal that John left behind the boys end up at The Roadhouse.  The Roadhouse, a popular place for hunters, is run by Ellen Harvelle an old acquaintance of John's, her daughter Jo and Ash the 'genius'. Like Bobby they help out the Winchesters. Another character that keeps coming back is (spoiler) the Trickster.  Personally I love this guy's sense of humor.  He is crazy and his favorite toys are Sam and Dean.  At the bottom is the Gag Reel from Season 1
